I JUST WROTE A GOOD BOOK. NOW WHAT DO I DO?

Congratulations on finishing and publishing the book, and now the real work begins. Are you an accomplished author who is dedicated to writing many books? Have you created some kind of self-help book based on your years of learning something unique? Are you a sci-fi freak and need to create characters with multiple heads and breasts? Enough of the guessing…you actually need to determine if your book writing is a business or just a hobby. In reality, a hobby can become a business, and from some self-examination…you should determine your literary future path.

Marketing and selling books to establish an income is a completely different discussion, but one that is necessary if you decide your future is writing books. Let’s say your enthusiasm for creating books is an 8-10 on the scale, then decide what your endgame is. Is it fame? Is it notoriety? Is it money? Whichever side of the intention spectrum you fall on makes an impact on your decisions moving forward, but don’t sell yourself short by just publishing and selling a book or two.

The global audiobook market generated approximately $8.32 billion to $8.6 billion in revenue in 2025, solidifying its position as the fastest-growing sector in the publishing industry. Consumer data showed that more than 50% of Americans have listened to an audiobook.

With a quality published book, this is really your next step before you hang up the keyboard and become a full-time gym rat. An audiobook can take your literary words to the next level of entertainment, and a good audio engineer can make your book sound like a movie soundtrack.

When we scribe a book and then exhaust ourselves with the editing process, there comes a time when we have no more energy for this idea. It is what it is, but there is hope on the horizon. When the audiobook script is developed, you can make changes to parts of the book that need to be fixed, changed, edited, and you can embellish the story with ideas you thought of after the book’s publication.

At AR Sound Technology, we are authors, and when we read your book, new ideas will pop into our heads and then the fun discussions begin. What if….why can’t we…have you taken this character to the limit of the story? Many questions can be asked and discussed during the production of your audiobook that will make the story even better. But don’t kid yourself, not all audiobook production companies think alike.

A conversation with us costs you nothing…and maybe, just maybe, another author will see something in your writing that will change your long-term goals.
